Once upon a time we lived in Hong Kong.
Our home faced the Tai Tam Reservoir in the steep hills of Tai Tam.
One day as I was walking along the reservoir, coming towards me were about twenty Chinese Grandmas.
Each one wearing the customary pajama style outfits in vivid colors.
They each carried a colorful umbrella to shield them from the sun.
I stopped in my tracks as I watched this beautiful scene. I had no camera, just my ability to memorize the moment.
The name of this fabric is called Chinese Grandmas on French Script, and is available for sale on my Spoonflower Shop.
When I saw that Spoonflower was offering a Cotton Silk fabric, I was able to make another dream come true. To make a silk scarf using my Chinese Grandma design. I reworked the design into two panels on French Script. It can be used as one large piece of fabric or cut into two panels.
I am in the process of making a scarf, which I will share soon.
Now I can't wait to see other designs printed on this lovely fabric.
Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteHaving been to Hong Kong, stayed with friends up Mount Nicholson Road, I can relate to your wonderful artwork.
I know why they would be needing umbrellas, we were there in July and the weather was so hot!
I love all the wonderful bright colours, of your Chinese Grandmas watercolour.
Wishing you a great week
Hugs
Carolyn
